This page explains how TravelSimScanner chooses providers, ranks “best value,” how often data is updated, and how affiliate links work. Prices and network chips on comparison pages always defer to the provider’s checkout and plan details.
Who maintains this
TravelSimScanner helps travellers compare travel eSIMs by destination, trip length, data amount and price. We are not a carrier and we do not sell our own eSIM. Contact: hello@travelsimscanner.com. More context: About.
Providers in scope
Comparison pages currently list Airalo, Saily and Yesim (the live site list wins when it changes).
We currently list only providers we can stably link to and whose public retail prices we can verify in HKD or USD (typically already in our affiliate network). Providers that do not yet meet those conditions stay off the comparison pages, so this site is not a complete catalogue of every eSIM on the market (see Affiliate disclosure).
Update cadence
Each plan on a comparison page shows a last-checked date. Airalo refreshes daily from the provider catalogue via automated sync; Saily and Yesim are loaded by hand (no fixed daily cron), so they can lag a few days. Checkout prices at the provider always win.
How ranking works
- Sorts and labels use price metrics only (per-GB, total price, and the data/day filters you pick) — no paid placement.
- Commission does not change rank (same as About and Disclosure).
- Per-GB: fixed-data plans only (total ÷ GB).
- Unlimited: not sorted by per-GB (no fixed GB); compare total price among same-day unlimited plans, or keep them separate from fixed-data rows.
- Default is often per-GB; you can switch to total price, data or days.
Networks and features
Network chips (e.g. SoftBank, KDDI, Rakuten), hotspot and activation fields come from provider product pages / feeds. Combinations can change; check the plan detail before you buy. Japan example: /en/esim/japan and /en/guides/airalo-vs-saily-japan.
Verification
- Spot-checks against provider store / checkout pages, with checked dates on claims.
- Known limits: hand-updated providers can lag; automated fetches can be blocked (Production owns crawler work — this page does not promise a fix date).
